Our history

Zeta Omega was chartered on March 16th, 1923, by Brother Nathaniel Bowen a young student from Morehouse College who connected with 11 other like minded fraternity brothers. Based off of the Fraternity’s four cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. Zeta Omega has served the Greater Cleveland Area by making a positive impact on it’s communities for over 100 years.

1911

Omega Psi Phi fraternity was founded on November 17, 1911, the first at a historically black university, by three Howard University students, Edgar Amos LoveOscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman, and their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just.

1923

The Zeta Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. holds a significant place in history as the first Omega Psi Phi chapter chartered in Ohio, officially established on March 16, 1923. As the oldest and largest chapter in the 4th District, Zeta Omega played a critical role in expanding Omega Psi Phi’s legacy throughout Cleveland, Ohio, and the surrounding region.

2025

Twenty-three men of faith who has entered Zeta Omega Chapter spring 2025 have been on a journey of service, bound by their devotion to Christ and a shared mission to uplift
their community. Through random acts of kindness, mentorship, and outreach, they strive to be beacons of hope, demonstrating
the love of God through action. Whether feeding the hungry, guiding the youth, or rebuilding neighborhoods, their faith
fuels their purpose.
